EU-India Business Summit in the margins of the EU-India Summit

Based on the sharing of experiences, this event is intended to strengthen the economic links between the EU and India. It is the first such meeting to be held alongside the political summit.

MEDEF International, the French Business Federation, places the spotlight on India at a meeting of business leaders to be held in Paris on 30 September 2008, in the margins of the EU-India summit, which will take place the day before in Marseilles.
Participants at this forum will include India's most senior business leaders, the Confederation of Indian Industry, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and numerous Indian and European dignitaries. Like all emerging powers, India is currently enjoying high levels of economic growth. Although the European Union is already India's largest trading partner, the prospects for developing even closer trading links are highly promising, notably with regard to the signing of a free trade agreement, for which negotiations began in June 2007. This meeting, to be held in the margins of the EU-India summit, will provide the opportunity to make a large number of contacts and better understand the specific features, challenges and the many opportunities offered by the relationship between the European Union and India. Working sessions on different themes will allow more in-depth discussions on issues of particular importance for the bilateral trade relationship (technological cooperation, energy etc.).
